I have two sm cactus and I put em in a cup and just took them out and there was a big white glob of mucus?

I've had this cactus in it's planter which has holes on the bottom but I put cups on them to catch water - they were in the cups for about a month. Then I took them out and there was a big white gooey glob of mucus stuff in the bottom of the cup of each plant. what is this stuff?

probably some kind of mold.  If your cactus is healthy, I wouldn't worry.  Also, since cacti need to be watered so infrequently, I'd take the water catchers out the day after you water it.
