These bumps showed up in the past year sometime ( I assume because that was the last time I was at the dentist and he would have seen them). The bumps are large and identical on each side under my tongue and directly below each of my 5th bottom tooth back from center. I wonder if my wisdom teeth are pushing something out there although my teeth themselves don't seem to have moved. I also have headaches that come from my neck that started within the last year as well that I thought maybe were from allergies but now wonder if its a symptom of wisdom teeth problems. Had xrays about 3 years ago and dentist said that I should pull by wisdom teeth but didn't really need to

  1. Bethany is right! Your 5th teeth from the center are not molars but pre-molars. Those little bony things are called exostoses or mandibular tori and found in 15% of population , more often in women than men. Check with with your dentist ... you have probably always had it there.

  2. You should seek a second opinion for a specialist called Oncologist to diagnose the 2 bumps that caused headache as mentioned. The symtoms appeared under your tongue for more than a year and the dentist had not noticed it. NEVER take things or symtoms for granted, consult the specialist immediately.

  3. From your description it sounds like "mandibular tori", it's just a normal variation of bone growth. I have tori on my lower jaw and on the roof of my mouth. It is really very common.  I would think it was something else if it was only on one side- but if they look almost identical then they are most likely tori. If your dentist saw them they probly wouldn't have said anything because it's normal anatomy- just not everyone has them- kinda like freckles.

That being said, the jaw aches could be from wisdom teeth shifting things around in there, but it's very unlikely that those "bumps" are from your wisdom teeth.  If you ask your dentist for xrays on your next visit I'm pretty sure they will confirm nothings wrong, just maybe time to get out your wisdom teeth if they are bothering you, but it won't have anything to do with tori.
