  1. As many as you want.

The only condition is you cannot leave the country for more than 1 year without getting a re-entry permit in advance.

  2. You can travel as often as you want, as long as you do not indicate that you are abandoning your US residency.

The most important thing to note is that for a trip of more than 1 year, you MUST apply for a re-entry permit using the I-131 application for travel document while you are STILL IN THE US.  The re-entry permit is usually valid for up to 2 years, and it is important that you return to the US before it expires or your residency may be considered abandoned.  One thing to note is that you do not need to be in the US when your I-131 application is processed/approved.  You just have to apply before you leave.  You can actually have the document sent to an embassy overseas and pick it up there.

I strongly suggest you read the USCIS travel fact sheet for permanent residents:

    http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/B5_en...

Note that there is no restriction on how long you need to be in the US when you return.  Also, most US territories are considered the US for immigration purposes (US Virgin Islands, Guam, etc).  As soon as you re-enter the US your "trip" has ended.  That means that if you spend one day in the US every 365 days, you do not actually need a re-entry permit.

However, since any absence can be used to determine that you have abandoned your residency, to safe-guard your green card, it may be a good idea to apply for the re-entry permit if you expect to be gone over a year (rather than just popping back to the US for a quick visit).  Owning property or demonstrating a vested interest in returning to the US will also help avoid potential "abandonment" accusations.

  3. How ever many times you want.

A Permanent Resident of the United States can travel freely outside of the US. A passport from the country of citizenship is normally all that is needed. To reenter the US a Permanent Resident normally needs to present the green card (Permanent Resident Card, Form I-551) for readmission. A reentry permit is needed for reentry for trips greater than one year but less than two years in duration.

  4. you cant travel outside of the united stated unless you are a naturalized citizen

  5. You can travel as much as you want.  Over the long haul you need to be IN the USA more than you are OUT.  The consequences of being gone more than half the time is that you'll lose your green card.

You need to make up your mind, do you want to live here or not?  If not leave and give somebody else who wants to live here a chance.
