  1. Get a proper eye examination done and get the spectacles as per the number given to you-if neeeded you can have them around your neck by a strong thread put in both sides of glasses-  you get them readymade- take them out whenever not needed to use esp when lying down or sleeping.. If the doctor suggests you can put contact lens too but remember there are a lot of precautions to be taken with contact lens- so be careful.

But if you don not want to bother too much over taking care of contacts because remember you will b putting them inside your eyes- go for glasses...........

Get a regular check updone to see if the power is the same or changed......

Also do the fiollowing  exercises-they help in keeping good eyesight and in some cases have improved the power too:

1.After getting up in the morning fill your mouth with water - absolutely full - and then splash water in your eyes about 20 times. Throw the water out. Repeat 3 times. Do it once again in the evening. Can do it whenever possible in the day .

2.Second do the eye rotation clockwise, anticlockwise, diagnol left and right, sideways left right- up and down - each about 15-20 times.

    3. Take a break from the computer every half an hour . Rub your palms. and cover your eyes for half a minute then look as far as posiible to where you .....

Good luck - a healthy body is God's greatest gift- taking care is our job............

  2. As far as the answerer above me, those drugstore glasses are used for strictly reading. More often than not, people who need distance glasses are myopic, which is a minus prescription. All those glasses have is plus, which is the complete opposite. Don't self guess, get a good axam and get the glasses that are exclusively for your eyes.

You should have a pair of glasses regardless. There are always times that pop up when you cannot wear contacts, and you will need glasses as a back up to them. If you are self conscious or play sports, contacts can be nice. High prescriptions can produce thicker lenses, so the appearance and weight can sometimes be bothersome. As far as wearing the glasses, you are the best judge. I would assume with a high prescription that you would enjoy clear vision all the time and not be content to see the way you do without them.

  3. If you don't want contact lenses, then you can indeed get prescription*  glasses and wear them all the time.  Millions of people do.

    *note: spelling correction here

  4. Yes  you can and that will work. I have bad eyesight also. Instead of spending big bucks for prescription eyeglasses, I go to the local Dollar General store and get the $5.00 reader glasses. The same glases will be $20.00 at wally world.  I buy several pairs and have them all around the house (in case I don't feel like walking or lose a pair).

  5. Yes, but contacts are superior to glasses in a couple of ways, for most people.

    1) Peripheral vision. The frames of the glasses, and the lack of lenses on the side, make it more difficult to see things to the right and left of you.

    2) Distortion. I'm strongly nearsighted, and when I wear glasses (for example, to find my way out of the bathroom after removing my contacts for the night) the seam between the wall and ceiling is curved. When I walk up stairs, the ends of the stairs seem to be curving upward to meet me. I don't have this problem with contacts.

I had a rough time when I first started wearing contacts. Of course, they were very expensive in those days. Now, if you have a problem with one, you just throw it away and open a new one. My eyes got used to them, though. I don't even think about touching my eye anymore, as long as my hands are clean.
