I have what I think is poison ivy, should I avoid the sun?

I have a big rash that I'm almost positive is poison ivy, I've been putting the creams and whatnot on it, cold showers, etc., but should I avoid the sun?

Sun light isn't necessarily bad just because you have a poison ivy rash. As always don't stay out long enough to get a burn. Remember, when you sweat from an area that has the oils from poison ivy in it, you can actually spread the rash. In other words, pants and long sleeve shirts will not allow the sweat to evaporate.
