Attention, I have a windows CD but when I put it in the d drive, I am told that the windows running is newer than the version I am trying to install.

  1. Make sure to back up!

like, internet bookmarks, game save data, photos, music

then yeh, just put in the disc, restart, and it'll ask you something like 'boot from disc? - press any key'

if it doesn't ask, then you'll have to change your BIOS boot priorities, and that's another question

  2. Simply boot from your Windows XP installation media on follow the on-screen instructions.
