Question:

I have worked for a printing company for twenty-eight years.?

Due to the general down turn in trading i am being made redundant.

Regardless of my weekly wage the state redundancy pay-out for this length of service is less than eight thousand pounds.

Yes i know it`s a lot of money but eight grand, for twenty-eight years must be wrong.

Do you think my so-called boss? Should be named and shamed in the trade press; yes we still have one. He spends two days a week,at his printing company the rest of the week he is a Tory councillor in Kent.

  1. I got  about  30  grand  for  18  years,  you're  being  robbed.  Just  started  at  a  printers  and  the  work  is  non  stop.

  2. :( I been made redundant too, it makes me sad but I got no money from it xx

  3. The previous answer about consulting ACAS is about right.

The question I ponder is, did you hold a trade union card?

Whatever an employers every day attitude is towards his workforce, at the end of it all, is your future.

Your employment agreement must have been made known to you, from day one.

£8000-----its nothing these days, but more than your forefathers got---thanks to the trade union movement.

  4. Name and shame that amount is wrong.

Check out the ACAS website for more advice

  5. Sorry to hear that, I would say get in touch with ACAS, don't go without checking what your entitled too.

  6. I'm so sorry darling. Name and shame the toad! Good luck in finding a new and better job.

  7. Eight grand for twenty eight years? You're getting screwed, mate. A severance package for that length of service should be a h**l of a lot higher and since it's a private company it should have precisely nothing to do with state levels. You are not an employee of the state.

I'd suggest you have a word with CAB first. Or better yet, if you're in a union, get them involved.

    Good luck mate.
