I have zero energy lately, even though I'm getting plenty of sleep. What should I do?

When I get an iced coffee, I'm fine all night, but when I wake up, I just want to sleep and sleep and sleep, and I never have any energy all day. I usually go to sleep around 1am and wake up at 10ish... So I'm getting enough sleep. I wish I would wake up earlier, I hate sleeping late. I just don't feel like doing anything. What can I do to get more energy? Do I need to have a never-ending supply of iced coffee?

  1. You should try reducing your caffeine intake because that could be disrupting your sleeping patterns.  Even if you are not waking up, you can be spending less time in the stages of sleep that help you to feel well rested.  Another thing that may help you is to do plenty of physical activity during the day.  When I don't exercise as much I tend to feel sluggish throughout the day as opposed to awake and alert when I do have a regular exercise pattern.  Make sure also that you are not getting too much sleep, as that can actually cause you to feel sluggish in itself.  The perfect amount is actually about 7.5-8 hours.  You may feel tired at first when you wake up after getting that amount of sleep, but the rest of the day you will feel refreshed and revitalized.  Good luck!

  2. Cut down on the caffeine.

It's probably messing with your sugar levels giving you energy slumps.

  3. Drink more water.  Seriously.

  4. Start with bloodwork, look for red vs. whites, and pay very close attention to kidney function.

There are many organs in the body, and I'm not just pulling this out of the hat.

And rule out MS or multiple sclerosis; while glimpsing at chronic fatigue and Tension Myositis Syndrome.

I think that stress is affecting your kidneys and could lead to Glomerulonephritis if you don't slow down, and deal with stress, and get more rest.

One last thing, you need to break the cycle of ups and downs, and sugar crashes, with the caffeine and addictive stimulants in the iced coffee.

    There are pills for that.

  5. Well drinking coffee at night will make you stay up later. so try not drinking coffee and going to bed earlier and then you might wake up sooner too. I have the same problem sometimes and my dad says it's because i don't get enough exercise each day. So maybe try exercising more. And take a vitamin supplment.  hope i helped!

  6. Dehydration is a common cause of fatigue.  Most people don't drink enough water.

Perhaps you need a women's energy multivitamin every day.  They contain extra B vitamins for energy.
