  1. LOOK AT THE SID OF THE HOT CYLINDER FOR A PIPETHAT ENTERS INTO THE CYLINDER AT THE VERY  BOTTOM ON THIS PIPE THERE SHOULD BE A GATE VALVE TURN IT OFF THE WATER WILL STOP AFTER A LITTLE WHILE AS THE PIPES ABOVE THE CYLINDER HAVE TO DRAIN

LEAVE ALL THE HOT TAPS OPEN A LITTLE

WHEN YOU TURN BACK ON SHUT THE TAPS\ WHEN WATER FLOWS FROM THEM

THIS CAN PREVENT AIR LOCKS LOWEST ONES FIRST

  2. Could be you've got a hot water tank either in an airing cupboard or in loft. Or you've not turned off the mains water supply and only a cut off valve to a tap. Have a nose around and see if you can find any of these two.

  3. Turn off water at mains, if you have a loft fed cold water tank you have to open the cold water feed valve in the airing cubd.

The pressure will drop, and open all hot water taps and the hot water will stop coming out when the pipeworks empty. It will not drain the cylinder.  It's all about pressure.

REPEAT : YOU DO NOT have to drain the hot water cylinder if you have cold water storage tanks, the pressure from opening the valve stops the flow of hot water, when you have fixed the tap in question, close the cold water feed valve, close all the hot water taps and the water will repressurise to come out of the hot tap again.

  4. You will have to turn it off from your Tank in the hot press! you have only turned off the cold water feed!

  5. If you turn off the main valve to the house, then it's the water heater draining....if we are talking kitchen sink there should be a valve for hot and a separate one for cold... if it's not under the sink trace the waterline back... at the least there will be one on the inlet side of water heater....

  6. Just keep the hot water tap on and the hot water tank will drain. Don't turn the main water tap back on as this will fill the hot water tank ok

  7. Your hot water is coming from a supply tank in the attic, and if you have turned the cold main supply off, then it will eventually stop as the tank drains out. You can drain it quicker by opening any other hot taps, but remember to close them again before you refill the hot water supply.

  8. Turned off how? If at the mains, you will need to drain the system inside the house. Make very sure the heating system is off too, if it came on with no water it will get nasty and expensive.

Leave the tap running, it will run dry in a short while.

    Cheers, Steve.

  9. There is a cut off under the sink for both cold and hot water. If that doesn't stop it then you will have to locate the main cutoff for the house and turn it off there.

Then take the faucet apart determine if it is repairable or not. If not get a new one and install. If it is just a seat, o-ring or washer then take the part that needs replacement to the big box store of your choice and get the repair parts. I always replace the seats when ever something else goes bad. It's a Murphy thing, if you don't do it now, you'll do it sooner then you wish.
