  1. You just have to sit down and read them if you like it or not.  If you don't you will be starting your freshmen year off on a bad note.  You cannot make yourself be interested in it if you are not but at least sit there for an hour or two at a time and get through it so if you are asked to discuss the books at least you have read them.  They tell you to read them for a reason...I suspect in large part to see what students actually read them.

  2. A remedy?  No.  Sadly, you either read like crazy now or pay the consequences later.  You had all summer to do it.

  3. Yeah i know what you mean

the only choice you got here is get on THE INTERNET! start by looking in sparknotes.com or cliffnotes.com and see if they have the book there. if it is then it will show summaries and easy stuff. get all the reading you can have possible so you can get an idea.

  4. Oh god I hate assigned reading! Look, just turn off your computer, take a nap to get yourself pulled together, make a nice cup of tea, and read your *** off. Maybe replace the characters with more interesting people, like friends or even other book characters that you like.

  5. You only got through 3 pages before you quit?  You need to set goals and stick to them, like that you'll sit down and read two chapters in one sitting.  You probably have about 2 weeks to read them, as I doubt they'll jump right into it in the first week of school.

  6. 1. Sign off the internet.

    2. Shut off your computer.

    3. Open the book and read; have a light snack or something to drink with you.

  7. Get your @$$ of the computer and read until your done.

Sucks, but it's the truth. Don't do anything but lay down and read. Don't play music, don't read and watch TV, don't read and eat, just READ.

  8. same here!!!!!!!!!!! Just lay down on your bed in the afternoon with no distractions around you pick up the book and start reading I started today and I'm on chapter four. Usually books are really boring in the beginning. Btw I'm reading Bless Me, Ultima. It's gets really good just in case that's the book your reading too.

  9. One option you might try is see if the library has them on tape or CD.  For some reason, it can be easier if someone is reading it to you.  If that's not an option, you just have to set aside some time to read it.  If it takes place in setting with accents, imagine reading the story with that accent.  Take it with you to the bathroom.  Set stopping point goals for yourself (like after 5 chapters you take a break).

  10. One of the most helpful tips that I can give you is something that I have picked up over the years to help myself finish reading quickly. Try not to pay any attention to what page you are on or how fast you are reading the book. Try to completely submerge yourself in the story. This will help you to not get discouraged if you are a slow reader and also it is important to get your mind off of the fact that you have very little time left to finish reading. Hopefully, using this strategy you will remain fully focused on what is happening in the book. Good Luck and don't worry too much about it.

  11. same with me but i read 1 i have to read 2, and i start school on September 2ed so i would

listen to some on audio cd, or whatever they even have them on itunes (but they are a little expensive) your local library might have them. also you could get a book that you really want to read sit down i a quiet space and read! stop half way have a snack a drink ect.

the good thing about having it on your ipod (if you have one) is that you can listen to it anytime anywhere and if you want you can follow along with the book.

i still have to read one more book by September 2ed so i might buy one on itunes get the book and follow along!

    hope this helped!

    best of luck,

    Alexandria

  12. i've only read a chapter from my 2 books so i know how you feel just set a certain time to read like 90 minuets a day you should get done quickly is your consistent !
