  1. With a sledgehammer and a chainsaw.  Then drive to your nearest music store and buy a guitar.

  2. You can do the bath thing by yourself (like somebody else suggested) or you can take it to a repair tech and let them do it, they can check your slide for dings too! all that might run you $60.00

definitely use the slide o mix stuff for your slide, I have used it for over a decade and have not found anything better!

p.s. trombone is for the few that evolved beyond guitar!

Beethoven refferred to the trombone as the voice of God!

When God speaks, even juvenileguitarowningwannabees have 2 listen.

  3. You want to let it soak in the bathtub for a little while to loosen up of the stuff that has been in there for years.  Be careful to not use hot water, but luke warm (the water temperature should be the same as if you were going to give an infant a bath.).  A trip to you local music store to purchase a trombone snake and the long rod to clean the inside of outer slide will be helpful.  Once the horn has soaked, run the snake through, then wrap some cheesecloth around the rod and clean the inside of the outer slide and wipe down the inner slide.  I would also recommend getting the Slide-O-Mix kit (comes with two bottles, one big, one little, white with red caps) to lubricate the slide.
