  1. I suggest a Eureka, specifically, or a Hoover. Dirt Devil's large vacuums are decent, but their smaller ones fail to do me any good. Electrolux is supposed to be good, too.

I would not buy a battery operated one; I've had bad experiences with it.

Anyway, Best Buy and Sears have great vacuum variety, however it is harder and harder to get a "cheap" vacuum.

I honestly would suggest a bigger vacuums, like these: http://www.bestbuy.com/site//olspage.jsp...

(and some of those are cheaper than some canister vacuums).

I looked up some on BestBuy.com and here are some smaller canister vacuums:

Here is a link for other vacuums:

    Good luck!

  2. dude- just go buy the cheapest vacuum in the store- anything is better than the nothing you currently have! get someone to drive you to Walmart and buy one! the all do the same job of sucking up dirt! God- how can you breath in there with all your dust-mite friends floating around!

  3. why don't you go look for vacuums on amazon.com. The users will review them, so you'll know if it's a good one. You could also have it shipped to your house (usually for free, since it'll be more than $25) so you don't have to worry about not having a car.

  4. Have you considered a Oreck? While the price doesn't appear cheap, they last forever and can be purchased on a 12 month interest free plan for as low as $20.45 a month. They are lightweight at only 8 pounds and Oreck delivers them right to your front door so no car is needed. They also offer a 30 day risk-free trial should you decide it is not right for you. They even pay the return shipping costs.

I own one, as does my Mother and both of my sisters. Best vacuum I have ever owned.^

  5. If you havent cleaned for a year, perhaps

your breathing is becoming difficult ?  have

you noticed !  Seriousley the dust mites must

be growing kingdomes !!!!!  Just go to a good

vaccum place and ask for a medium size

because it wont be able to handle the dirt you

have if it's too small.  And do change the Bag .

  6. Actually, what I would do in your place is see if you could have one of your friends or relatives bring over their vacuum so you could use it -- that's what I did when I was young and first on my own.  As far as the smallest and cheapest, I can't help you there, sorry.  I own an Oreck, the kind you see on infomercials late at night and I like it, but it's not cheap.

  7. Have you considered a second hand vacuum?  A lot of vacuum cleaner repair places sell second hand reconditioned vacuums.  It's a good way to get a higher quality vacuum for a lower price.  I would get an upright with attachments.  Uprights are easier to store.  Get one with the washable filters and a cup to empty.  Bags are a pain.  Also try this, in a spray bottle mix one part vinegar and two parts water.  Mist, don't soak, the carpet and then vacuum, this deodorizes and helps suck up the c**p on the carpet.  Vinegar is also a natural antibacterial.

  8. At sears theres one called the hold-away by Hoover, the handle actally folds down so you can put it it tight places.

Ats light weight and has a 12 amp motor!

Beware of stick vacs that are small and dont have a full motor.

  9. Dirt Devil vacuums are good, and some of them are  small and cheap. Unfortunately, they're loud... but you can't have everything! :) They always get good comments in Consumer Reports. If you don't have a dog or cat, you don't need a special vacuum. There are two decisions to make... do you want upright or canister, and do you want a bagless or one with bags. I have one with bags and I wish I'd gotten bagless for the convenience. Here is the Dirt Devil web site: http://www.dirtdevil.com/ They even have reconditioned vacuums -- one of them is only $43. http://www.dirtdevil.com/Products/recond...
