To my understanding, you qualify to get a stimulus check by filing a 2008 tax return and have income of around $3,500.00 So if your income is at least that amount, you should get a stimulus check. You can file your return for your income tax refund at any time. I t is considered being filed late if you file it after April 15th. If you owe the government money from not paying in enough taxes, there will probably be penalties and interest also charged on top of what you owe the government. If you are due to get a refund, you will not have to pay penalties and interest, even if you file your return after April 15th.

You have 3 years to file for a refund.

If you file before 10/15/2008, you will be considered for the rebate.

Yes, you can file up to 3 years late and still get your refund.  If you file by 10/15/08, you'll get your stimulus payment if you are eligible for one.
