  1. Usually the debt will fall off after 7 years. If not you can call the credit agencies and tell them to remove it off your report. Once they do that and there is nothing Else on your credit report that could hinder your approval for a credit card then you could try. But FYI, you wouldn't want apply to a company you previously had a bad relationship with. Because its a possibility they still have that debt on their records. Even though they shouldnt.

  2. i suggest against it. Even if you could. Which you probably cant.

  3. i guess you could try.  on this site i've seen cards that say that they don't do credit checks.  they seem to have cards for just about anyone.  http://applyforcreditnow.ecreditdirector...

  4. Yeah, right.

  5. No. You need to get into credit couseling and pay off your debt and get out of the habit of spending what you cannot afford.

  6. You can apply but the bank will laugh at you and tell you no or charge you a ridiculous amount of interest

  7. you can, but i seriously doubt you will be approved.  you need to pay off your old debt, it won;t just go away

  8. Trey has the ONLY decent answer here...no preaching..no guessing....nice answer.

Mainly he includes one very important point.  DO NOT get a credit card with a company/bank that you had a previous bad debt with.  They can direct your payments toward your old debt.

Your past debts should be off your credit by now, so your credit score should be fairly clean.
