I played varsity volleyball in high school and have not played for 2 years.. i missed it a lot and have decided to play on a adult league. Will i still be good at the things i was great at in high school or will i have to start from scratch...what are some things i can do to get ready?

  1. You will probably not be totally as good as you used to!  But, you should go and just start practicing again.

  2. i say go for it as you start to play it will start to come bakk to you start to pass to yourself then maybe a pass then a set to yourself until you feel more comfortable :) i love volleyball and love to hear that your starting to play again good luck!!!!!!!!

  3. I stopped playing for about ten years going into graduate school, finding new job, and taking care of new baby... but I "believe” I am better now after some court time.

Just go find an open gym and play some real games, you will not be as good immediately but pretty soon you will be able to pick up what was left off. Cardio is something that takes longer to come back.

By the way, some adult leagues are not as competitive as high school volleyball games, but are more fun-oriented.

  4. i think you will just need a few weeks to get back in the swing of things. pretty soon things will slowly come back to you, and you might even be better at a different position than you where in high school. good luck!

  5. my answer is if you were really good at it it will not take you long to get back into form. and even if you were not good its only been a couple of years. and this sport does not ask you to be extremely fit like a contact sport so you should be good.
