  1. did you happen to efile?  and to pay for the efile, did you have the fee taken out of your return?  if you had the fee deducted from the return, they will be sending you a paper check, and it will take longer.  this is what happened to me, i was pretty annoyed by it, but i did get the check.  you can find all the info at irs.gov

  2. You will get the rebate check when you get it.  Never count on money that is not in your account.  Be patient.

  3. A lot of people have thought they were getting direct deposit but for whatever reason aren't, so are assuming they'll get it earlier than they really are.  For example, if you had a tax prep place do your return and had your fees taken out of your refund, you aren’t eligible for direct deposit.

Check your bank statement from when the original refund came - if it says "US Treasury" you should be OK for direct deposit as long as that account is still open, and you didn’t split your refund into multiple accounts. Otherwise, you’ll get a paper check

Since the first round of direct deposits is done, it sounds likely that you'll be getting a paper check.

The other possibility is that you filed too late for your return to be processed by the 4/15 cutoff to make the first round of stimulus payments

  4. There are a number of reasons but the most common is that you e-filed with a tax preparation firm and had the fees withheld from the refund.  If that is the case the refund really went first to a third party bank for processing.  Well that bank had no idea the government was going to send out rebate checks and they closed that account as they have always done.  So you should get a check sometime before the end of July based on the IRS mailing schedule.
