  1. It's a really good idea to switch exercises every few weeks or so - it's a concept called 'muscle confusion'.  If you want to read more about it, you can do so at:  "http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/p...

  2. yeah it is true after a while your muscles have adapted to the workout you do and stop growing

so it is best to change it every 4-8weeks to optimize your growth

  3. it has nothing to do with the actual exercises but with the level of intensity that exercise is performed at. this is why you have to constantly increase the number of reps performed, loads used, speed of running and distances traveled to make continual improvement.

in order to become efficient at certain movements you have to perform them over and over.  as the saying goes "repetition is the mother of skill".  so in that sense it's a catch 22.  take for example 2 guys, one that squats 2x a week using one heavy day and one light day vs another that only squats once every couple of weeks.  the first person is obviously going to be much more efficient at that exercise and see much greater increases in strength, etc.

changing a routine too frequently can be counter productive.  stick to the principle that if it's not broken don't fix it.  wait until you hit a real training plateau before making drastic changes to your training routine.
