  1. In PR, at almost all places, we speak in spanish unless we notice that you can not understand us and then we switch to english to be able to communicate with you or if you want us to keep in spanish and help you out to understand the language.

Places in PR with a non spanish environment:

    * military or federal goverment facilities

    * homes of americans or foreign people

  2. The better areas speak or know both languages. If all you want to hear is Spanish you have to go to the poor peoples sections.

  3. In PR we speak Spanish, all puertorricans speak Spanish, its just that a majority is bilingual and also speak English, some even fluently, like me, I am completely fluent in English and Spanish, but all parts of PR people speak Spanish.

  4. Well in general Spanish is the predominant language of the island so a better question would be to actually find out where they speak English.

The majority of people in Puerto Rico are slightly bilingual since it's a mandatory course throughout or school years.

Some like me are fluent because we have cable while others are not as fluent but still understand English full on.

If you want to go to an area where people know the least English then i guess you could go to the center since it's full of country-folk character but that still doesn't mean that they don't know English.

I was raised in the metropolitan area where English is more predominant since there tend to be a lot of tourist and CEO and English is needed in order to do business.

I moved to Aguadilla for college since it is at the west side and over here there is a lot of people who speak English since a lot of north Americans tend to move here because of the good surf and laid back sort of ambiance.

So in general all i guess you could do is ask people to talk to you in Spanish and that way you might better learn the language cause unfortunately i doubt that you will find a specific area where they only speak Spanish

  5. EVERY WHERE U GO THEY ARE GOING 2 SPEAK SPANISH BUT THERE IS ALOT OF BILINGUAL PEOPLA THERE .

  6. well i would say for less english speaking places go to the center of the island.  On the west side you will find the most beautiful beaches for surfing and hanging out.  For instance in Aguadilla and Rincon there are many americans who have moved there to retire to a "beach bum" life of surfing, sun, and sand.  I love this side of the island.  Over by the city in the San Juan area is the financial and big business area.  English is a must since there are many tourist, and lots of their clients or employees from the headquarters are from the states.  So just about any town in the center is where you'll find people who are more "country folk"  i guess you could say.  But spanish is predominant anywhere on the island.  My spanish improved 100% and i was on the west side of the island.
