I hear water behind my shower wall?

I see no water the water is shut off at my toilet next door

if you live in a multiple family dwelling or have an upstairs with plumbing, the noise you hear is someone else running water and the water is running threw the plastic drain pipes in the wall.  

to cure this problem we used to run cast iron pipe and insulation.
