A while I went on Wikipedia and read this:

In April 2005 Funimation Entertainment started a project calling for convention attendees to help them fold 1000 origami paper cranes. In Japanese folklore, folding 1000 paper cranes would grant someone a wish. When they had at least 1000 cranes, Funimation sent the cranes and pictures of the events to Studio Deen and Hakusensha to try to convince the company to produce a second season of the Fruits Basket anime. Fans successfully folded the minimal of 1000 cranes by the end of the 2005 convention season, however at this time, there is still no sign that a second season of the anime series will be forthcoming.

Are they planning on making a second season. What do you think (or hope)?

  1. No, I am a big Fruits Basket fanatic, and I know for a fact that they are not coming out with a second season of Fruits Basket. However, the manga is complete.

  2. I've heard similar stories for numerous anime series.  Unfortunately, petitions have very little weight with animation studios.  I suppose it isn't impossible (I'd love to see the series continue) but unless the money is there it's not likely to happen.  FB was definitely one of my favorites

  3. If it was just on Wikipedia without a source, it's very probably fake. Even if it was true, I'm afraid they aren't gonna do it. You can always read the manga.

  4. Actually, they are coming out with a second season. so many people were petitioning for it that they agreed. It may be a long while before it actually happens, but there will be a second season. There has been no news of it since they agreed, because it is a psychological series, and they gave a lot away in the first season and just left so much out, that they have to figure what to do with the next season.

Now if only Ouran High School Host Club could also be continued...
