has anybody else heard this, I was watching a video by a doctor that claims Garlic is very poisonous and slowly kills you. Ive always read and heard that Garlic is good for you, but now Im really starting to wonder. Garlic is an anti-oxidant, are anti-oxidants in fact good for you, if they are then that would mean oxygen is bad for you, because anti-oxidants are destroying oxygen. What do you guys think, I fidn this very interestin. Has anybody else heard about Garlic being bad, or even anti-oxidants being bad.

  1. My brother-in-law lives in an area of California where there is a Garlic Festival every year. He has always taken it as a dietary suppliment.

Whether it has good or bad effects - I would suggest a little research on

www.webmd.com  -  You can trust these doctors and nutritionists and

your doctor could be right under some conditions - you can't take garlic with Cummiden or blood thinners.

  2. no anti-oxidants destroy free radicals which OXIDATE which is bad

So your confusing OXIDATION  with OXYGEN

  3. Where did you see that video? Was it on some unprofessional site, like Wikipedia? Because garlic is an antioxidant and if used regularly, can get rid of germs that make you sick by strengthening the immune system. It doesn't destroy oxygen. It helps your body stay fit.  THIS PROVES THAT GARLIC IS NOT BAD.

  4. too much garlic is bad. garlic is something that is good for hypertension. I've never heard of garlic being bad for you unless one has too much. but i left my email as an additional detail for you about my question this morning. you said to leave it...thanks by the way...

  5. Since people all over the world eat garlic every day and survive, I'd say that doc is wrong. There's always people telling you that certain foods are dangerous and cause cancer etc, then others saying the opposite, so you just have to decide for yourself.

I eat lots of garlic and feel great.

Of course, you have to vary your food. Anything you eat too much of can be bad for you. Like you can actually kill yourself with carrot juice.

You need to learn more about anti-oxidants. They're not destroying oxygen. They're supposed to slow down oxidation, which is something totally different.

  6. Surely Garlic is supposed to be good for the heart?

They sell Garlic pills for that.

  7. Im not sure, but I dont eat garlic. So it doesnt matter anyway.

  8. I don't believe that i'm pretty sure that garlic is good for you. If you can't get your mind off of it then just call your doctor and ask!

  9. Yes garlic is bad for you, if you eat to much of it. Just like fish, which has trace amounts of mercury, or beef, chicken or pork, which can give you E. Coli, Capmylobacteriosis, Salmonella, and Trichenosis. Green beens are bad for you as well. And dairy products. Also wheat. Fruits are bad for you to because they have pesticides. And don't even think about eating potatos or rice.

Seriously, people have been eating garlic and other Alliums (genus name for oinions, garlic, chives et cetera) for thousands of years. They're used in the cuisine of literally EVERY culture. Humans have managed to survive so far, so how can garlic really be poisonous?

Also, you're wrong about anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants do not get rid of oxygen, they get rid of free radicals. Free radicals come from  atoms/molecules in your body that loose an electron. The process of molecules loosing electrons is called OXIDATION ( called oxidation because the molecules that loose electrons commonly have an oxygen atom, but that doesn't mean the element it'self is bad, in fact you need it to survive)  The molecule that is now missing an electron bounces around in your body damaging cells and causing cancer. Anti-oxidants are molecules that can give up an extra electron to a free radical, without becoming free radicals themselves.

So, no, eating garlic will not make you die. And anti-oxidants are not bad either.
