  1. YUP!!!

  2. I am a retired female boxer.  I am a Former NZ champ and Oceania champ for NZ.  I am currently a boxing coach.

In Amateur boxing you wear 10 oz in the ring when you fight.

I used to hit the bags in heavier gloves (12oz) so when I got in the ring, the fight gloves felt WAY lighter.

Most gyms spar (practise boxing against a team mate in the ring) in 16oz gloves (real heavy gloves)  as it means you get real tired way faster, and can't hit each other as hard.

This in turn increases fitness and hand speed when you do go to fight, and lessens the chances of an injury during a sparring session.

Bigger gloves also protect the bones in your hands way more as well.

Bag gloves (lighter gloves)  should only really be worn by beginners or people not intending on fighting ever.

As people get better and if they want to fight regardless of size of hands they should wear HEAVIER gloves.

In my experience with the NZ amateur boxing scene anyway.

  3. 8oz gloves. that is it. I thinks that is what is permitted

  4. Heavy weight boxers wear a larger glove about 10 onces more than lighter weight boxers. A larger glove is more protection from a punch because more padding in the glove. Smaller isn't better.

  5. yeah

  6. idk.

but probably cause its lighter for them,

and easier to punch or something.

    maybe it can be like,

dangerous or something if their gloves are too big.

like they could break their hand or what not.

  7. they should because smaller gloves have less resistance.
