Don't read into the rumor about Movin leaving Dallas....

It all comes down to the money the station is making and the ratings it's making..and apparently it's making a hair better ratings post smooth Jazz.

It comes down to people questioning if the format is still workable in Dallas... radio-info is a rumor board and needs to be taken as such by people not familiar to the radio world. Most of the talk about smooth jazz is questions if certain stations will drop the lower rated programming for trying smooth jazz.

97.1 was one that people were questioning that became Rock again.

107.5 was just a question by someone trying to get comments from insiders... However you will have to take the info as just rumor and innuendo as sometimes false info is placed there.. but usually right before a flip happens, people will name the station and format right before it flips (as the advertisers get an idea before the public usually)

However with this, only station people question apparently is 92.5 and it's unknown if it will even flip to something else.

To understand these rumors better, I'll give you a little history of the Movin format.  

"Movin" was created a couple years ago by a radio consulting firm called Alan Burns and Associates.  They came up with a rhythmic format that would appeal to 25 to 35 year old women.  Burns then sold the idea to several radio stations across the country.  Since then the format has been introduced to many larger markets in the US.  Originally the format did well in most markets.  Recently most of the Movin stations have been sliding in the ratings.  None have flipped formats as of yet.  But in bigger radio markets, it can only take less than 6 months of bad ratings before a company will flip formats.  

In Dallas, Movin hasn't been a big ratings success.  In the last ratings Movin was 19th place out of 30 stations.  That isn't very good.  If CBS doesn't see an upward trend in the ratings soon they will make a change.
