Question:

I heard a voice -- is it paranormal or a hallucination?

I recently bought a new mp3 player, and I've noticed that I can hear certain notes in songs that I couldn't hear on my old mp3 player... so I've been listening very carefully to my music. While listening to a song yesterday, I reached a certain part when I heard a voice commenting on the song... though it didn't have a good opinion. It said "What the f*** is he talkin' about?"

I was taken aback, so I rewound the song to hear the section again... this time I heard "Shut the f*** up!" I was sure that this wasn't actually in the track, so I replayed it again and this time heard "God d**n he likes the sound of his own voice." !!! After freaking out even more, I calmed myself down and played it a fourth time, and heard nothing. The voice that I heard was "in" the music, and not "in my head" -- at least as far as I could discern.

So my question is: Do you folks think this is:

A. electronic interference with my mp3 player

B. a paranormal occurrence

C. a hallucination / "hearing voices"

  1. you need to go get a cold cloth and put it on your head and lay on the couch, then pick up the phone and call......ghost busters.............

  2. I vote C!

  3. I suppose you could be getting some cell phone or wireless phone bleed through, and that would make a lot of sense, given the story. Of course none of us could really know for sure, but speakers tend to pick up signals from cell phones.

I no longer carry a cell phone, but when I did, right before it rang my speakers would make a sound like morse code or something.

  4. i think it was C. a hallucination/hearing voices is that happened it would freak me out ide buy a new mp3 player lol cause who nos it could be haunted lol mayb even call ur doctor or are you on any medicines that could cause u to hallucinate? well good luck =] lol

  5. I think it's too much coffee, sweetie.

  6. IDK. O.o

  7. or demonic..which isn't too dandy to say the least..

  8. You need to take a pill and lay on a couch and talk to someone about your mother.

  9. c

  10. I would go with C.  Auditory pareidolia is a possible explanation too.  Our brain is wired to find patterns.  Sometimes, depending on a lot of things, you can make a pattern familiar to you (i.e. a phrase or word you understand) out of complete nonsense.

  11. I'm sorry . I don't know why..but I'm not able to believe you. Maybe if it had just been one comment on the recording , I could believe it..but not so many. If you're telling the truth....then I think it must be either you're having hallucinations or you have a ghost in your house (or in your head). There's no way for anyone to know. Did you let others listen to it? That might tell you if it's really on the recording or if it's you..or if you're just "pulling our legs"!!

  12. what meds are u taking?

  13. What song were you listening to? There's a slight chance that you're not crazy and you're actually hearing something.

  14. First of all I don't blame you for freaking out.

Does your MP3 player also pick up AM/FM?

Maybe it's picking up something, I dunno.
