I heard an online degree isn't accredited. Is that true. I want to go to Liberty University...?

I'd like to get a masters of guidance counseling degree from Liberty with the focus on being a guidance counselor.

  1. Education is more important than a diploma.  But, a well known school is highly preferred in the real world.  It can be a faster way to success.  I have heard of stories as your brother and sister.  It can be done but it is more difficult.

    Make sure the school is regionally accredited or nationally accredited.  And, a specialized accreditation in a specific area is always a plus.  For example, AACSB is an accreditation for business schools, and they offer special accreditation for certain Accounting programs.  

    The whole tier thing is basically a survey study.  Only those who are willing to share will be counted.  Its kind of one sided.  


  2. Some online programs are accredited.  While Liberty University itself is accredited, it's a fourth-tier (not great) school with a very religious focus.  I'd recommend doing your degree elsewhere if possible.
