  1. Are they alive? Do they have brains and hearts and lungs like any other animals (INCLUDING humans)? Then why wouldn't they feel pain?

I've seen some studies say that goldfish lack nerves and nervous sytems, therefor they wouldn't be able to technically "feel" anything, but I have seen this theory disproved in many studies

I've also seen studies claim that no animal can feel "pain" because the dictionary defines pain as a negative feeling or discomfort that "HUMANS" feel. But that is just an egotiscal and a*****e anwer, IMHO. The WORD pain may be associated to the humane language and to human feelings, but that doesn't mean that animals don't experience the same "negative feelings or discomfort" that humans do. They have nervous systems, just like humans.

Lobsters don't have nervous systems. This has been proven. So many people claim they don't feel pain (like when they are steamed ALIVE for human consumption). But there have even been studies to disprove this!!!! Four individual studies were performed, in different labs across the world, with different species of lobster.

First, the scientist applied a strong acid to one of the front legs. The lobsters instantly started scratching at the spot with their other legs, showing that they were experiencing some sort of feeling from the acid. But as soon as the lobsters were injected with morphine, they didn't scratch at the spot where the acid was applied.

If lobsters can't "feel" pain or sensations, then how do you explain this?

    Same with fish

  4. Goldfish have a 2 second memory.. that is why you can put them in a tank with nothing in it.. each tail flip is like a whole new world. I cant imagine them feeling pain or recognizing it... but all living creatures have a neuro system which by theory senses pain. ... it's just really difficult to hook them up to an elctronic monitoring system to test them.

  5. Goldfish have nerve endings and a brain.

Also the thing with goldfish having a 3 second brain, is also a myth. No you cannot keep a gold-fish with nothing in it. Goldfish have been trained to swim through mazes people!

Try touching a goldfish, they'll feel your finger and move away won't they?

  6. No..it isn't true...goldfish feel pain...

  7. i don't see any reason to believe that they'd be the only animal immune to pain...
