  1. Great hobby!  Try this first to get an idea about quilling:

Then go to www.quilling.com for supplies and getting started tips.

    Have fun!

  2. Quilling is using a tiny pronged stick to roll long or short strips of paper into coiled circles.  Once the coils are formed, (either loose or tight,)  they can be pinched and manipulated to make shapes such as leaves and moons, flower petals, tiny bowls and more.   The shapes can be glued together to make pictures or objects.   A quilling tool is a rod, about 5" long with two prongs on one end.   Put one end of the strip of paper between the prongs and start rolling, either loosly or tightly.

End the "coil" with a dot of glue.  I have made bowls and containers using quilling strips  as well as other shaped designs.

There are "how-to" booklets, strips of paper and quilling tools available at most craft stores.  Hope this helps, Mary

  3. Quilling is a paper craft which uses thin (1/8") strips of colored paper rolled into circles and/or shaped into  oval designs and builds images on a background. Usually flower pictures are the end product.

  4. check out this site and have fun

  5. I used to quill when I was about 10 yrs old.  I loved it.  All it is is colored strips of paper wrapped around a small spindle type tool to make spirals, curls, etc. It is a really pretty art form.  All you need is a curling tool, glue and some qulling strips and a backing to glue them on. You may find a beginner's kit at your local craft store.  Very easy to do.

I noticed that quilling is making a comeback as this was very popular in the '70's.

  8. The best book on how to quill is from KLUTZ. Come with paper strips, step by step photos. A must for a beginner. My daugther and I both learned from this book.

JoAnn fabrics and Hobby Lobby carry quilling strips.

You will find many books at the library on this old craft.
