  1. you post stuff you have that you don't want anymore or you can post a want for something it's a group thats trying to clean up the world and keep stuff from going in the trash if someone else can use it as in you give and you might receive it's a good group i use  hope that helps

  2. It is a Yahoo Group that your immediate community may, or may not participate in.  You can "offer" or "seek" items that would be given for free.  Each day you get either emails (or a single digest format)  from group members posting items up for grabs or people who need a particular item.  You can contact other group members if you want or have a particular item.  Everything is free, you cannot charge money or offer money for items on Freecycle.  It's a good place to unload stuff that's too good to throw away and you're not quite ready to donate to the thrift market.   I joined on Monday and I've already gotten rid of a box of damaged china, and recieved 2 bags of Glucerna.

I should probably also mention that if you don't have a group exactly where you live, you can also join a nearby community if they have one.  You have to personally pick up and/or deliver the free items to the member you are transacting with.  Often times, things can just be left on the porch or you can agree to meet away from your home, like at the grocery store or somewhere.
