  1. It's certainly easier on the joints.

  2. Define "better". Swimming is easier on the joints, that is for sure. As for cardio, they can be equal depending on how hard you push yourself. You will notice a more rapid weight loss with running. Swimming will help tone your entire body at once. I feel the sports are about equivalent in general, however you should choose the one you like more or you can engage in both for a more varied workout (and perhaps a future in multi-sport!). Anyways, you can get swimming workouts from the bookstore (they are in the sports section, I recommend "The Fit Swimmer") or you can Google it and gets TONS of options.

    Good luck!

  3. This is in a 12.3 metre pool without a dive by the way!

Butl i just do a basic 500m freestyle quite fast (normally around 6:40)

Then 100m sprint front crawl (not that good 1:09 sort of time)

Then 100m sprint breaststroke (not that speedy at 1:29)

Then a relaxed 500m swim fousing on technique (takes aroun 8 mins)

Then if I feel up to it a couple of 25m sprints (2 lengths for me and about 14secs) or 50m sprints (4 lengths for me and around 30secs)

    Hope that helped!
