  1. not true. it depends on the cat

  2. Definitely not true at all.  Both male and female cats are equally affectionate and playful and make wonderful pets if they are spayed or neutered around 6 months.

If you are looking to get a pet one way to find the right cat is to adopt one that is around a year old so you know their personality it's impossible to predict the kind of personality a kitten is going to develop as they mature

  3. I have had two male cats for 5 years and 2 years ago got a female cat. One of my male cats acts like a dog and is SO loveable! The other is very loveable as well, but likes to hide alot. I was so used to their love. When I got my female cat.. it's a different type of love. She is so cute.. but won't sleep with me like my other two. She likes to be around you, but not like sitting with you the couch or anything like that. She is more aggressive and hyper than the others too. From my experience, if you are a first time cat owner.. get a male!

  4. This is true, but not always. Female cats are more active, but male cats seem to interact with more people. Still, female cats can do the same if you spend a lot of time with them.

It doesn't matter whether you get a male or a female cat.

  5. Doubtful.

  6. I had a cat for 19 years, she was a stray kitten, that I had rescued from the shelter. She had been mistreated and she would let any one touch.

But she would let pet her and over the years I was the only one that could rub her tummy.

I think it has to do with the circumstances, what environment the kitty comes from.

  7. no. like people, each cat has its own personality and will bond differently with those around it, none of which is determined by its gender. i have had very sweet and friendly cats of both sexes who bonded with plenty of people. on the flip side, i've seen plenty of cats who simply could not bond with very many people at all, mostly based on their past experiences in life.

how they are raised will matter more than what s*x they are. treat them well and with plenty of love, and you will have a cat (either male or female) bonding with people just fine.

neutering your cat (whichever s*x it is) will help it grow to be a sweet adult cat. it removes the hormones that increase aggression, which helps them be happier and better behaved in the long run.

  8. Sometimes.  Most of the female cats I've had bonded most strongly with their family and were shy when other humans visited.  But the girl we have now is very friendly with everyone she meets.  She adores people and will hop on the lap of anyone who comes in and tries to sit in her favorite chair.

In general I think the females are more loyal to their own people than the males, but it really depends on the individual cat. Some males are shy and some females are not.

  9. Yes it is.  My cat is a male and he has a bond with all the people he meets.  But it is true female cats are more aggressive!
