  1. You should try it just to see.  I doubt the ball would fly farther if you heated it, especially if you heated up past 100 degrees or so.   But from years of playing golf in a volatile climate (Utah), I DEFINITELY know the ball does fly farther when it's warm outside. But this is not only because of the ball temperature, but the temperature of the clubhead and shaft as well.  Golf equipment is designed, tested, and manufactured at room temperatures.  The performance of equipment is optimized for room temperatures, so it is likely the ball will fly farther in these conditions.   The properties of the metals in clubheads change with temperature.   Since most golfers don't like to play when it's 30 degrees outsides, engineers design golf equipment for warmer weather.

  2. Heated ball does fly farther, and that was proven by Sport Science. I think an average of ten yards farther than a cold one. But if you drive 230 you might need to light those balls on fire!

  3. ya bigges right but on the fsn show sports science they did tht and i think a frozen one goes farther

  4. No. A heated golf ball becomes slightly softer and absorbs more of the impact of the club. It will actually fly a bit LESS far.

  5. In the North there are hand warmers which some players use to heat their golf balls as well as their hands. Truthfully, Since I have given up playing when it gets too cold to hold the club properly, can't say that the heated ball travels much further than one which wasn't heated.
