Is there any truth to this, or am I mistaken?

  1. I think someone is pulling your leg. The Japanese have a very strict vehicle inspection system and it's good for two years. They require an old car to pass all specs as new so it gets quite expensive and not many old cars survive. But, even they don't require an engine replacement at 30K.
