If it's still under warranty, it's free!  They send you a box, you put your console in it and send it to them (they pay for the shipping), and they fix it and send it back to you.  Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX for their customer service line to get the process started.

actually lulz u have a 1 year limited warranty on your console and 3 years for the red ring syndrome...and they do not charge you...mind you its limited...it depends whats wrong with your console...i looked it up on there site but they do not explain the limitations of what they could fix for free....

Actually, it's only free if it has the Red Ring of Death I believe.
