  1. Amtrak, for interstate passenger service:

    The only train thru DEN is the California Zephyr, which runs from Chicago to San Francisco (actually, Emeryville, CA.)

    RTD Light Rail, for intracity and suburban service

Yes, for regional & local trips the light rail system is operated by the Denver RTD web site www.rtd-denver.com  The RTD system also operates some really decent regional bus service connecting many communities with Denver. For service to Colorado Springs a commuter bus system called FREX is also available. For longer rail trips Amtrak serves Denver once a day in each direction for service to SLC & California to the west.and to Chicago to the east. Good Luck!
