  1. As long as you aren't taking massive doses of vitamins (like two pills a day) you aren't going to cause your body any harm. Each vitamin will absorb in a slightly different time frame. Also, depending on how much you eat and what else you eat with the vitamin pill could slow down or speed up absorption.

Whatever you can't absorb in that vitamin will be peed out. But only if it is a water soluble vitamin. Fat soluble vitamins aren't excreted through your urine. But don't worry, a multivitamin won't have high doses of those in a pill.

Always follow the package directions, never take more than one.

If you want, you can find a multi that has less amounts in it, and you can take it twice a day to increase absorption. If you're eating healthy though you are doing fine, and one normal multi a day is just fine.

PS-just because it says 100% doesn't mean you are absorbing everything in that one dose. Your body can only absorb so much at one time, so a lot will be excreted.

Also-you have to realize that you will be getting more than you need that day because you are going to eat foods, which presumably contain vitamins, even if only in the form of fortification....Most people go way overboard on these vitamin pills, and if you are eating a healthy diet you don't need them.

I don't always take vitamins, only if I've had a rough week and haven't eaten perfectly do I take a supplement, and I take children's vitamins because they are way lower in dosage. (plus I don't need iron because I eat a lot of iron in my diet and too much iron will give you potty problems...no thanks!)

  2. No you get of every separate vitamin the exact daily doses:you are not going overboard with taking one multivitamin tablet.

You just get what you need daily for 100%.

    Space.

  3. A regular OTC multivitamin shouldn't hurt you, but it is possible to take so much of a vitamin that your body can't get rid of the excess and it makes you seriously sick.  Too much of anything can kill you, even water.

  4. No, taking a daily mulitvitamin in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendatins isn't bad. You do pee out the excess of certain vitamins... but some are capable of being absorbed and stored. That is why it is important not to take more than directed.

Vitamin B is one in particular that your body cannot store. I take a Multivitamin and a vitamin B every day. The bright yellow p**s is for the most part, the excess vitamin B.

As for timing, some tablets are digested faster than others. Body builders eat every 2-3 hours for a reason. When you don't eat something every 2-3 hours your body starts to go into shock... it is requiring more carbs for energy so it clings on to your fat stores and you start to feel hungry. If you eat something every 2-3 hours, then your body is chillaxed and seems capable of burning off some of your fat storage for energy. It is important not to eat fats if you eat every 2-3  hours... unless of course , they are complex fats like fresh avocado or a handful of walnuts or something.
