  1. Actually if I was you I wouldn't be taking the advice of someone on Yahoo answers about this.I would be calling the IRS.

  2. Oh, somebody has been smoking funny cigarettes again!

  3. Well, people come up with the strangest things.  First you would need some way of dispensing water from your pool to use on a fire.  Second your pool pump would probably not be a qualifies option so you would need a gas powered pump and attached fire hose for the purpose.

I think you may be better off using the water pump fire hose as a deduction and leave the pool for health related medical deductions with a letter from your doctor.

    You're welcome!!

  4. You definitely can't write it off on your federal income taxes, and I doubt if you can write it off on your state. You could search your state's Web site for information, but if you do, you'll need to spell "fire hydrant" properly.

It *is* possible that you may qualify for a discount on your homeowner's insurance, though. That's probably something you should ask your agent about.

  5. No, that is not true.

Or I should say, like anything on your tax return, you could do it until you got caught!!

  6. Not ture, bad advice to try to deduct it.  If you want to confirm my answer, either telephone the IRS at (800) 829-1040 or write to them.  Write to the IRS office where you file your return.  If you don't have the address visit www.irs.gov for the office in your area.
