  1. As normal "Renpen" has the correct answer!

However I would like to add the possibility of a bent crankshaft!

Remove the sparkplug, tip the mower with the carburetor to the upper side! and have someone look at the bolt head that holds the blade on to see if it 'wobbles' when you slowly pull the starter rope.

If it 'wobbles' the crankshaft is bent and replacing it will probably be more costly than a new mower. Sorry.

  2. David, besides the damage to the blade, which you should replace, you may have sheared the key between the flywheel and the crankshaft.  The key is made to shear to protect the engine for internal damage.  To repair it you will have to remove the engine cowling, and the flywheel.  They key is easy to replace, getting to it is a bit harder.  It will take a puller to remove the flywheel.  If you don't have the tools or the expertise to do it you will need some help.  But, for sure inspect and replace the blade.  That could be a safety issue.

  3. You should probably take it into a repair shop, it is best not to mess with a mower or its blade if you don't know what you are doing

  4. Unattach the spark plug (for safety reasons) and flip the mower on it's side.   You probably have something stuck.

The mower will stop when hitting a solid object and maybe damage the blade but it should not destroy the engine.   I would guess it will start right up again unless something is stuck in the blade

  5. If it is not stuck It may have bent the pin that holds on the fly wheel. That throws off the timing.
