  1. Ask a lawyer or ask yourself for an extra estimate then evaluate the situation

  2. $700 sounds about right to me.

I guess it all depends on your integrity. If you have some you would pay it because you damaged their vehicle and it is the right thing to do.

I had a guy run into me at Wal-mart. I was in the store and he went well out of his way to find me and pay for the damage. It was refreshing to have meet such an honest person.

In contrast, the other day at the gas station a guy backed into my truck trying to get out of the station. (he had been drinkig) I went to speak with him and he ran. I got his plate, called the ploice and he has warrents. The reason for his hurry is he stole a womans phone at the station.

Being an x-cop I called a friend and got the guys address. That was a felony hit and run plus the two warrents and thieft. Some friends and I will be visiting him this weekend and he will be going to jail. He might wish he had stopped and may  beg for the police to come get him ;-)

    Which are you?

Do the right thing...you might be out the money but integrity is yours and only you can give it away. Its hard to get back.

  3. right now both of you are looking at alot of trouble, leaving the scene of an accident usually carries jail time.I would offer to pay some but 700.00 is a lot of money ,you might mention that if he goes to the police he is in as much trouble as you are .sounds to me like this guy just wants 700.00

  4. If you hit someone from behind then definately you or your insurance will HAVE to pay for the repairs. 700 dollars seems awfully inexpensive. Think about it, if you go through your insurance, there will be a deductible, probably at least 500 dollars. Then your rates will go up. I would ask the guy to get one more estimate and then pay whichever is cheaper in full.

  5. that is what insurance is for. you do have car insurance .yes?

  6. yes you should pay it. but not no 700$. take him to court for a right amount you should pay. hes over exageration.file a police report. take pics & his liscence.

  7. well first thing should have been watching what you was doing yes you pay its your fault  shoul dhave call cops so  a report could have been made and i wouldnt pay til i had one but waiting to pay that price could be higher so  did you see a sheet of paper for  estimate  and really 700 is cheap

  8. having even a small section of a car painted correctly costs alot of money .  So if you chipped or damaged the paint it's about right .  You could always ask for a reciept to verify the price.

  9. You should pay the entire estimate, clearly you don't realize what it costs to repair a scratch. My friend got a scratch on the side of his door about 1.5 inches long and it cost $600 to fix. Body work is not cheap, especially not scratch repair.

  10. It is your fault> So contact your insurance comp>If a no fault state his insurance will pay for it if he has comp ins>If not he can come after you for the damage> But more than 1 est would be nice to see>

  11. if you have insurance, what is your insurance deductable.

If your Insurance deductable is $500 or more i would pay for the damage out of pocekt without telling insurance company.

Also ask for a second quote if you feel the estimate is high.

You do need to pay for it though.

$700 sounds about right though, a new bumper, installation, potential small body damage, painting, labor. Body work is not cheap.

    You do have to pay.

If you have insurance, they will eventually contact them and it wont even matter if you want to or not, your insurance company will take care of it then you will have to pay them.

If you dont have insurance, they can file police report and also take you to court.
