  1. power without control is useless.

i read somewhere that player can hit the tennis ball 4 football field length with the modern tennis racket.

get a coach, learn how to hit the ball and play the game, so you will have both power and control.

  2. Those aren't the problem. Your strings are too powerful. your tension is too low. Go to a sports store that offers stringing and talk to an expert. They will help you find the perfect string for your needs.

  3. I would try keeping the racket face straight -- In other words, try not to have the racket face facing upwards too much. Just keep it level and it shouldn't go as deep.

I hope that made sense...Good luck!

  4. topsin. if you add more top spin and slice, the chances of your ball going in are incredibly improved

  5. I assume you mean the ball goes out as apart from crosscourt strokes etc all full-blooded drives should land as deep as possible within the court to place your opponent on defence and hopefully off-balance.

Ground stroke drives that land within the service lines are useless no matter how hard they are hit as it gives opponents ample time to cover them whereas deep shots do not.

Unless you hit harder than NADAL - which I doubt - all tennis strokes should land within the court (his do!) and a tennis drive should ideally land within a foot of the baseline.

Get a certified tennis coach to work on your stroke production techniques as something is not quite right. It may be you do not end your stroke with a proper "follow through" i.e. your swing is not complete and may stop too soon.

A tennis pro will quickly spot what you need to do to consistently hit the ball with control to place it where it will do the most damage to your opponent.

Good luck mate and keep swinging.

  6. Two things can affect this:

You might be holding the racket at a 45 degree angle which makes the ball go further in the air when you hit it. This sometimes makes you seem like your hitting it too hard.

Also, you might not be getting any topspin. This is where you make the ball spin forwards so it come comes back own when your hitting it hard.

My suggestion is to go to a coach and ask him/her how to do topspin or just hit the ball slower

    Good luck,

    Jesse

  7. different racket? haha.

i can say from personal experience that switching rackets often helps when there's a problem like yours.... the rackets we used at school were generic: short neck, huge frame (because that's easier for most people). when i switched to a racket with a longer neck and a smaller frame, i had a lot more control over the distance of the ball, even though those kind of rackets are seen as "more difficult"

    i don't know if it's your problem, but it's worth a try! :D
