I honestly think, as a Pens fan, that we should consider...?

Going to Conklin. Fleury is great normally, but through the first two games of this series, he's left up too many cheap goals. He looks like he did last year against Ottawa, not like he has this year through the first three rounds... as much as I like him, the series is only a best of seven, and he's had his hand (in a large way) in being half way to losing it. Could it really hurt anything, besides Fleury's ego, to go with Conklin for the rest of tonight, as a wake-up call to the guy who is SUPPOSED to be playing like a franchise goalie?

Honest opinions, and keep the flaming to yourself, mmmk?

Example of cheap goals? The first one (wraparound) last game, and the fiorst one this game...And, if you can't make a save on a guy falling down coming around your defense, something should be done..

  1. Fleury has been fine, its the rest of the team that is sucking ***.

It doesn't help when you have to fend off a powerplay every other minute either.

  2. How is changing your goalie going to fix the fact that your team cant get the puck into the net?

  3. Yes the fact that your completely out matched on every line can be fixed by a goalie switch.

Face it, kid. They weren't cheap you just suck.

  4. I think Fleury is the only one on the team who actually realizes that this is the Stanley Cup FINALS. The rest of them are playing like c**p.

  5. Fleury isn't the problem.

Start w/ the coach, work down to the superstars, then the role players.

you can't blame any of them, really. they haven't been tested by a team like this. and they haven't had to face adversity. that's why they're making excuses.

changing to Conklin will make it worse. at least you're looking for necessary changes that need to be made. you might want to tell your coach.

  6. I think the Red Wings spanking Fleury's teammates is the reason they're losing. Fleury's playing just fine.

BTW, not good examples of cheap goals.

  7. i think its worth a shot to try conklin we have nothing more to lose

  8. I think when teams advance, they need to consider changing goalies because each team they face presents a different challenge.

For instance, Vinny Prospal and Danny Briere disappeared against the Penguins, like many players throughout the years have done, so it might be reasonable to expect to see Conklin come in prior to Game 4.

If I were the coach, and as a former goaltender myself, I'd switch them and tell the media, fans, my boss, and the players to deal with it.

  9. The Penguins should concern themselves with beating Osgood at least once before they worry about changing the goaltender.  Doesn't matter who is in the crease, if they cannot put a puck in the net they are not going to win a game in the series.  It's a far bigger issue than the goaltending.  The second issue they are having is that they are spending far too much time in the box.

The wrap around goal in game one was not a bad goal.  Fleury committed to the shooter as he should have, Samuelson made a nice move then beat the defenseman around the net.  He has actually made some very nice saves and has had to face quite a bit of traffic, including the best in the game in that area Holmstrom.

  10. Other than the second goal in game #2, I don't see any cheap goals.

Not the reason - changing goalies right now will only matter if Pittsburgh can generate offense, and if they can generate offense they might not need to change goalies.

    I don't think that's needed, IMHO.

  11. I think Fleury is the only one playing! He has been actually really good. I don't think changing it up to Conklin would do anything.
