i hooked up my new rg-6 cable to a rg-59 whip that is provided by my cable company and now I think my reception is worse?" Is that possibly?

  1. RG-59 has higher loss than RG-6.

    Equal impedance but higher loss.

    If the length of the RG-59 is short then the loss would be small.

    If the connector used to join the two cable is not properly attached, of if it is not a sealed connector, then the loss would be higher.

    You will notice a lower signal level on the meter of the receiver.

    Even if the RG-6 has lower loss, your added length will add more loss, small, but it will be added.
