  1. Hire a lawyer. Find one who is specifically for adoptions. That is typically how a private adoption occurs

  2. Consult with an adoption attorney

  3. go to you local family planning or human resourse departments by the way I think it is great oyu want to adopt!!!

  4. thast good. Just check it once again through the whole online. You are doing a good deed.

  5. If you're wanting to do an independent adoption without going through an agency you can use a service called Parent Profiles, where potential birthmothers looking for adoptive parents for their child can access your profile.

    http://www.parentprofiles.com/

Also, you should contact a few adoption agencies in your area too. There are pros and cons with working with an agencie vs. an independent adoption, so be sure to research all of your options. Here is a website for a good agency with a lot of information and forums for families considering and in the process of adopting.

    Good luck!

  6. try adoption agencies and or social services in your area they can be the first ones to help or maybe even ask ur dr, they can help too since well mothers who dont want their children may possibly go to the same  center as you, cant hurt good luck my sister does the same thign and she went through  social services , we live in nc so i guess it depends on where you live  best of luck sweetie

  7. First you need to get a home study done. You will need to do some research to find a good agency for a home study. If you are thinking about adopting a child from foster care, sometime agencies will waive the home study fee. Otherwise a home study can run from $1,000 up to as high as $5,000 (ours was $2,500.) You need to find out your states adoption laws to learn if you have to have an agency, what the birthparents rights are, where you can place advertisements etc. I am assuming you want to do a domestic adoption. I recommend the book "The Complete Adoption Book." It has all of laws for each state and information about every type of adoption. You also need to decide what you adoption budget is. Included the home study, agency fees, birthmom expenses, legal fees, and advertising expenses. I would suggest you look at the Yahoo Groups also, there are many adoption support groups, that offer a wealth of information from other people who are adopting or have adopted. I wish you the best of luck, I was in your shoes a few months ago. Our home study is complete, and we are now in the waiting stage. Please feel free to email me if you have any other questions. I know that this can be really overwhelming, but in the end it will all be worth it.

  8. I wouldn't recommend doing this on your own -go through an agency.  They will make sure that everything is done legal and hopefully protect you from any scams.  Try American Adoptions or a local adoption agency in your phone book.  They will take you through the steps and match you with your baby.

  9. Put an ad in your local newspaper.

  10. Why would this offend anyone? Adopting is a wonderful thing.

  11. Why would it offend someone?  Reasonable question.

Go to www.lifelineadoption.org and see if they can either help you or if they can point you to someone who can.  They're reputable people.

Look in the yellow pages for adoption agencies with domestic programs and lawyers who specialize in adoption.  Interview them & find out if they're right for you.

  12. (I am not sure at all why posting this question would offend someone??  Can you add a comment and tell us what you meant?)

Anyway, I also do not understand at all how you can not find the tons of info on the Internet about adoption!  There are literally thousands of websites!

Here are some of the most general ones:

    adoption.org

    adoption.com

    abcadoptions.com

And one of my favorites is:  PACT An Adoption Alliance.

Also look at the research on adoption at the Donaldson Institute on Adoptions.

READ READ READ.  Join adoption forums and ask all your questions!  Call your local adoption agencies and ask for an adoptive parents group, and go!

Good luck to you!  : )

  13. just go to any adoption agency. I know I put my son up for adoption, Usually you go in tell them what you want and they go from there.
