I am aware of the Transpenine Trail to Manchester. But from there I am unaware of any long distance trails. Can anyone help?

Thanks

  1. I'm a trans-pennine ranger and know the path quite well - in my area anyway lol.

Best thing to do is have a look at sustrans website, they are the ones who build and run the paths.

  2. Sir, I am not familiar with the trail you mention and, to be honest, I don't think that my answer will help much. However, you might wish to consider canal towpath routes.

I have 'done the reverse', in part, when cycling from The Midlands to Chester.

The major canal routes are easy to find on many websites. Many of them have been refurbished in recent years and they certainly provide 'long distance trails'. The varied scenery, not forgetting industrial heritage, are delights along many routes.

    Whatever you decide, happy cycling!
