The other day I was at cheer leading practice and was doing some backhand sprees.I think I landed on my wrist wrong while I was doing one.The next day i got up and it hurt really bad.It kinda look swollen to me.Every time I do a cartwheel or anything it keeps giving out on me or it just hurts.I bought a wrap just in case.Should I put the wrap on till I can get a doctors appointment or should I wait to see how if feels tomorrow??please help.

It kinda feels really stiff if i move it.And it pops every time to.But my other wrist don't do that.

  1. Wrap it. Then call to see your family doctor. It could be a sprain. It could also be torn cartilage or a torn ligament. If your doctor thinks its not a sprain, he\she may order a MRI. Until then keep it wrapped and put ice on it. Do NOT continue cheerleading, and try to not move it around as much as you can.

Bottomline: See doctor, wrap it, keep ice on it,be gentle with it

  2. It sounds like a sprain. Ice it once or twice a day and rest it... do not do any tumbling or stunting(unless you are a flyer). Go to your high school's athletic training room and someone there can correctly wrap your wrist. many people do not realize that when you wrap an ankle or wrist or knee you should NOT use an ace bandage.

  3. If you can still put weight on it, its most likely not broken. You should stay off of it and ice it till the swelling goes down. If it still hurts after a week see a doctor. But you probably just sprained it

  4. It sounds like a sprain to me.

    Follow the RICE method:

    R - Rest

    I - Ice

    C - Compression

    E - Elevation

If it's after the first twenty four hours you need to switch to heat.  Take an ibuprofen for the swelling and pain.  Try not to use it and keep it wrapped. If you can't move it a lot and it's still painful I would go to the doctor's on Monday.  There is a small bone in wrist that can get easily fractured but most people don't realize they fracture it.  An x-ray will have to be done to determine if it is fractured or not.  Good luck and be careful!  :)

  5. most likely just a sprain. ice it to reduce swelling and stay off it as mush as possible fer the next week or so and you'll be fine.
