  1. In the past, it was quite easy (and profitable) to land a teaching job with no degree.

Nowadays, the competition is harder and the best teaching positions (and salaries) demand a degree, a valid TEFL/TESL certificate and experience.

Being only a high school graduate with no TEFL certification, you might get hired by private language schools but you'll get paid very little.

Those making good money are highly qualified.

  2. Well, you're going to have to know enough spanish to teach english. thats what im doing, but the opposite for here. i think there is a way to just get certified over there. My cousin in mexico just went to school for like a year to become a kindergarten teacher. Im assuming if you do it over there it would be a lot faster.

but if you do it here, you will probably get paid more. I was told that there was a teacher that went to teach English in Iraq for i think 5 years then he came back to US and bought a house in cash! yeah, they are in that much need over there. My porfessor that told me about that really recommended teaching somewhere like iraq because the money is incredible.

  3. Teaching English as a Second Language programs are available at most public colleges.  Wait until you have a couple of years of college under your belt before you move.  When you move back, your transition back to the states won't include you being jobless!  Also, there are many travel abroad programs that would allow you to study in Mexico.
