I would like to sell them but I have no idea what they are worth. I have tried unsuccessfully to research their values (Kelley Blue Book & Edmunds don’t give values for cars that old). Does anyone know where I could find out how much I should sell them for?? I really don’t have any room for them, so I would like to sell them pretty quickly… but I’d hate to find out later that I sold them for way less than they are worth. Any help will be appreciated.

In case anyone wants to know… the Rambler (early 60's model)is currently not running, but the interior is in really good shape (all original). I have no idea what it would take to get it going again. The VW van (1969) has some minor rust issues, needs a little interior work and new tires. It will start up, but I have not driven it because of the 4 flat tires. It has the little sink inside and the original canopy that attaches to the side. The Lincoln is a 1980 and it runs & drives really nice.

  1. Ramblers have a limited appeal and not much collector interest, but browse the web for a Rambler/AMC club and see if you can get an idea as to value.

Th VW camper may generate some real interest.  There's always a demand for these and a '69 captures the Woodstock mystique.  Again, there are clubs that specialize in these.  Check ads posted there to get an idea as to value and how to market yours.

The Lincoln is just a car, and from a low point in terms of historical interest.  Best bet is to sell this one locally.

You might be able to give away the jeep frame if you know some 4 x 4 enthusiasts.  People are always looking for platforms for projects.  Since these are so common, it probably has little $ value though.

Google groups has a group for just about any make.  You can post something there and see if there's any interest.

Good luck.  I'll post links if I can track down club websites.

  2. The Lincoln has very little value beyond the fact that it is a working car.  I'd let it go for as little as $1000, maybe less if the buyer wasn't a jerk.  (You WILL encounter jerks while trying to sell your cars).

The VW sounds like a Westfalia.  Does it have the pop-up tent on the roof?  If so, ask $3000.  You can't ask for much more than that if it needs tires and bodywork, but a Westy in decent condition is somewhat rare.  Setting the price up a bit for a 40-yr-old van will keep the fools away, and only someone really motivated to bring it back to good shape will jump at it.

The Rambler...boy, not running.  Dang.  I hate to recommend you scrap it.  If the body's in decent shape - as good as the interior - then put it on eBay and stipulate very clearly that it isn't running.  Provide plenty of pictures.  EBayers learned early that no photo = no sale.  Hopefully an AMC buff will see it and jump at it.  AMCs are getting rare and there are lots of folks out there who still love them, myself included.  Where do you live again? :D

Jeep frame: eBay it for a couple of weeks and take whatever offer comes.  No offer - scrap it.

  3. Make use the titles are changed into your name> Before trying to sell them>

  4. This site:

will give you old car values. I've used it before, it's pretty good. You can also check eBay to see what similar cars are going for.

  5. It's hard to judge the value of classic cars..I'd say the best bet is to have someone appraise them.

  6. Look on eBay, in Hemmings Motor news and the on-line Auto Trader to get an idea. You can also, as already suggested, find clubs associated with the vehicles. There is a market for each despite what some others have suggested. The Lincoln is getting popular as a "low rider" project, old Ramblers have a strong following, VW's are always a good seller (especially the older ones) and Jeep parts are usually snapped up quickly.
