Question:

I installed a domestic inverter in my home 2 months back. since then my electricity bill shot up by Rs.250/-pm

Though there is no change in our usage. could anybody suggest what is wrong ? Could there be something wrong with the battery charging ? Please help.

  1. Inverter is an electrical appliance with very low efficiency.By using it we may sometimes increase the electricity bills.For charging it drws current from the utility service,which increases consumption.At the same time ,this energy is only  utilized in poor efficient way ,when there is no electricity.this is due to the poor design of inverters

    What does the inverter, battery and battery charger for if you have utility power? Is it unreliable?

    If you are using the battery, charger, and inverter to bypass an unreliable utility service, then yes, your bill will go up. The whole charger - battery - inverter cycle can be running at an efficiency of 70 percent at best, and could be as low as 40 percent. So I expect your power use to go up.

  3. no obious if is being used frequently because it has many losses but u must consult the dealer and do fast because save electricity is our national goal
