  1. You Shorted out the Motherboard and other stuff

    -----ITS TOAST____----

  2. bye bye computer ! get it to a shop,QUICK !

  3. Whoops! Sounds like you’ve fried something. Does your computer still work, where is the smoke coming from?

If you've damaged the computer or router, they won't work properly. Can you give some more detail?

  4. I understand your frustration, there are times when things happen at the most inconvenient times. I, however, must tell you that it is impossible to make a computer smoke with a router no matter what you do with it (with the exception of shoving it into the computer case with enough force to short circuit a diode and make your motherboard explode :D  ). What most likely happened is your power supply has decided to eat itself alive (assuming it was your PC that was smoking). This occasionally happens when your computer draws too much power from a cheaper supply. If your software is activing funny it is probably because the hardware is now not getting enough power (this can sometimes turn colors on the monitor strange, give you read/write errors, and possibly cause your computer to be exceptionally slow and randomly reboot). If this is the problem, you would have to replace the supply. This is fairly easy to do yourself, buy an Antec powersupply from newegg (500w Earthwatts should do just find, around $50) and open up your computer case. Pay attention to where all the power cords go (you really cant plug them in wrong). The new ones will go in those same locations. Its just a matter of taking the four screws out of the back of the supply and pulling firmly on all the connectors in the drives (and undoing the little clips on the connectors to the motherboard). It only takes about 5 minutes, no worries.

  5. A router install botch shouldn't make a computer smoke or affect a computer in any way except it not being able to connect to the internet until the problem is fixed. Sounds like you have really bad problems. Most likely the PSU overheated and it may have damaged some components. If you could provide more information it would help find your problem much more easily.
