Do they think it's feminine?  I dont,  but I guess some may....I cant think of any other reason...

its depends on a lot of factors buddy..u shud have mentioned ur details more clearly...

the same thing has happned with me also...the reason (which i also think cud be ur reason as well ) is that we are living in India were Parents never realize the need, the importance, the significance of a sport in daily life...for them studies and accomplishments in Studies are the most important thing....also, a part contributor to this reason is the fact that Tennis is not so popular in India...Parents don't understand what the game can do for u...if u wanted to play cricket, maybe they would have allowed u..coz they know how and what is required for the sport...maybe then they don't realize the passion for Tennis in u...

if u have an idea of making it into a pro career and u have already passed the required age...and also u have stated this thing to ur parents then they must be thinking that u will waste ur career by leaving studies in the middle and joining Tennis coz if u already 15 or 16, there is no point in taking up the sport with aspiration of becoming a pro...u shud then take it as a recreational activity and as a hobby and not as a professional STUDY....(the same thing happened with me also)

another reason cud be that they understand that the sport has numerous risks of injuring urself..and that they are worried..

finance cud also be the obstacle..u parents may not be well equiped to pay u for Tennis...

i will give u a possible solution..if u have even one friend around u and have sufficient money with u ( i mean literally over rs. 5000 )....then take that friend along with u and find a good training facility around u...and practise tennis SECRETLy without even telling ur parents...take some time off...and find a good enuf reason to tell to ur parents and then take off to the courts.
