I jump hurdles but now i have a problem...help?

ive started jumpin hurdle this year and im very good but since school almost ended i just wasnt able to jump them anymore.. though i went to the track a few days ago i still wasnt able to jump the hurdles an i had trouble gettin my 8 step but when i switch foot on da starting line im able to jump the hurdles but im takin 9steps not 8....

whts wrong with mi?

or is this normal?

cause my goal is gettin my 8steps to also get my 3 step

also this is for 100 meter hurdles event.

  1. In the beginning of the season you will not have the same stride length that you have later in the season.

    When you first start training you may need to change the front foot in the blocks so you get to the first hurdle on the correct foot, and then change back as your stride lengthens.

    Not being able to get 3 steps between hurdles is a common problem for new hurdlers.

    Push the second hurdle closer to the first, until you can get 3 steps and then gradually move it back toward the 8 1/2 meter spacing. In practice it is not uncommon for a runner to not be able to get 3 steps between hurdles. Move each hurdle about 1 foot closer, so you can get 3 steps. In a race your speed is better and your stride is longer.

    Don't place the first hurdle closer than the 13 meters where it is supposed to be.


  2. if this is the first time you've gone to run all summer then your gonna have problems getting your steps especially if its your first year. but keep working at it and it'll come i promise. good luck!
